gather the information to start your Web site.

Choose and register a
domain name
- each Web site on the World Wide Web must have a unique name that identifies your site.

and

Choose a Web Host - a company that provides the server that your web will be published to by the web designer.

How?

  1. Since there are so many Web sites, make a list of at least 5 alternate names.

Ideally, select a domain name that is descriptive of your mission, product or service; it should be  easy to remember and type.

  2. Test the domain names for availability,
    go to Who is.

  3. Register your domain,
then select a Web host -

We recommend that the customer contact One World Hosting because they provide both excellent services at an affordable rate.

IMPORTANTLY, when you set up the host services account and domain you are independent of any one web designer.

Regarding One World Hosting: CNET compared the, "creme de la creme among low-cost, high-performance Web hosts," and picked One World Hosting, "Best All-Around..." "delightfully easy to configure and get started... tech support is rock solid... One World offers the best overall service among the $15-and-under group."

For other domain name information, see InterNIC.
